It was discovered on Thursday that the man’s identify was that of Aherene Dungey, who was 56 years old at the time of the incident. This information was provided by Dr. Kent Harshbarger, who is the coroner for Montgomery County and works as an official for the county. According to Lieutenant Steven Bauer of the Dayton police department, officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of West Grand Avenue in Dayton at approximately 11:55 p.m. on Sunday night after receiving a report of a person lying on the ground in that location. The location was reported to be within the city limits of Dayton.
According to the records from the Montgomery County Regional Dispatch Center, a woman was driving by when she observed a man lying in a yard and called 911 to voice her worry. Since she observed the man lying in the yard, the lady stated that she has been concerned for him ever since she saw him. She continued by saying that she had noticed the man as she was driving by him in her car and passing him by.
According to Bauer, Dungey was the intended victim of a more serious robbery that took place on the same day at approximately 11:30 a.m., during which he was robbed while being threatened with a gun.
