Arlene Kirkwood Obituary, Death – On May 20, 2023, Arlene M. Kirkwood, who had been a resident of Diamondville, passed away at the South Lincoln Medical Center in Kemmerer. She had reached the age of 83 at the time of her passing. After that, she went on to acquire a degree in education from East Stroudsburg University (ESU), which is also where she received her undergraduate education. After graduating from high school, Arlene started her career in education by becoming a teacher in the East Stroudsburg school district.
She began her teaching career at Smithfield Elementary School, where she was responsible for fifth grade students. She was passionate about her job as a teacher and had a lot of energy for it, especially for the pupils whose lives she had been able to change for the better.
She was a loving wife and mother who found fulfillment in activities such as gardening, teaching, and working out at the gym. Arlene was a very involved participant at the Church of the Mountain in Delaware Water Gap, where she also held the position of deacon throughout her time there. She was also an active member of the teachers union, where she served in several leadership capacities, including as the union’s secretary and treasurer. She held these positions for a number of years.
