Barbara Lander Obituary, Death – Barbara Lander, who was once from Bolsover and now lived in Chesterfield, unfortunately passed away at the age of 92. The burial will take place in Oxcroft Lane Cemetery after the funeral service, which will take place on Friday, May 26 at 11.30 am at Annunciation Church in Chesterfield. In lieu of flowers, donations to Ashgate Hospice would be greatly appreciated.
She was the daughter of Edith Lowell Coates and Eddie Lowell and was born on December 9th, 1928 in Auburn, Maine. Her mother’s maiden name was Lowell. Barbara received her education at Auburn, and in 1947 she received her diploma from Edward Little High School. Her wedding to Norman L. Bishop took place on June 24th, 1949. They brought up three children, Norman, David, and Julie Bishop, and acted as parents to all of them.
On September 7, 1975, Barbara and John J. Lander tied the knot and became husband and wife. Their enthusiasm for the great outdoors provided them with a lifetime’s worth of joyful experiences fishing, hunting, snowmobiling, and skiing downhill. Barbara had a wonderful experience serving as a volunteer at CMMC and going to the East Auburn Baptist church.
Her two sons, Norman L Bishop and his wife Debbi of Auburn, Norman G Bishop and his wife Julie D Bishop of Flower Mound, Texas, and Julie D Bishop of Portland, Maine, are her surviving family members. She is the proud grandmother of seven grandchildren, namely Heather K. Bishop, Donald L. Bishop, Evan M. Cuddy, Andrea B Cuddy, Jordan B Cloutier, Makena G Bishop, and Joshua N Bishop, as well as five great grandchildren, two great great grandkids, and seven great great great grandchildren.
