Brian Tierney Obituary, Death – Just a few months from complete retirement from his work as a Logistics Program Manager at Naval Air Systems Command, Brian Tierney passed away unexpectedly at his home on May 25. Brian committed his professional life to helping his shipmates all over the world and the naval aviation mission. He enlisted in the Navy in 1975 and served for more than 21 years on land and at sea before leaving the service in 1996 as a Senior Chief Aviation Maintenance Administrationman.

After serving in the military, he spent an additional 27 years helping the Navy Aviation Acquisition Commands maintain and enhance the efficacy of naval aircraft and our warfighters around the world.
He was a devoted golfer and a well-known figure at our neighborhood golf facilities, particularly the NAS Patuxent River Golf Course. He was born on August 17, 1956, to Jeanette and Harold “Hal” Tierney in Schaller, Iowa. Brian improved the lives of special olympic athletes by fusing his love of golf and compassion. He spent numerous evenings and weekends working with the St. Mary’s County Special Olympics as a golf and skiing coach. His students and their families adored him.
