Corinne Filograna Obituary, Death – Corinne E. Filograna, 22, passed away peacefully on May 20, 2023, at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, surrounded by her loving family, after a protracted battle with cancer. She was born to Frank and Kathy (Mengeringhausen) Filograna in Bryn Mawr on August 10, 2000.
In Collegeville, Corinne resided with her parents. In addition to being a Division 1 volleyball player and a Phi Beta Kappa member, she graduated from Loyola University Maryland in 2022 with a Summa Cum Laude. Corinne has been an active volleyball player since the fifth grade. She won the Father Francis McManamin Unsung Hero Award at Loyola for her dedication to teamwork and leadership both on and off the field.
While receiving cancer treatment, Corinne was working toward her Master of Public Health at Drexel University. She worked as a student clinical research assistant at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia this year and, with assistance from the CHOP Policy Lab, produced two journal publications. She loved spending time with her family and friends at the beach in OCNJ. She had the fortunate opportunity to spend a summer in Rome pursuing her passions for both food and travel.
If you were to ask Corinne, she would say that, despite her illness, she is in wonderful health. Because of her positive mindset and hope for a solution, she continued to live her life with grace and humor. She would say, even as her disease quickly returned, “There is always hope.” Just a few days before she died away, she had a great time watching Taylor Swift perform with her friends and family.
