David Kreis Obituary, Death – After a valiant fight with ALS, David Charles “Dave” Kreis, 66, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at his home. On October 2, 1956, he was born in Zanesville, Ohio, to the late Roy W. and Immogene Ragor Kreis. He graduated from Tri-Valley High School in 1975 and was selected as the student most likely to succeed. Dave lived a life committed to his faith, his family, and his community. He was a devout follower of Jesus Christ and a part of the North Terrace Church of Christ.
He oversaw multiple Northside Oxygen locations while working for 45 years as a licensed respiratory therapist with a focus on home medical equipment. He spent 30 years working for the Washington Township Fire Department, where he held the positions of Fire Chief, EMS Squad Captain, and President. He held the positions of Treasurer, Vice President, and President during his 18 years on the Muskingum County Fair Board.
He also served on the board of the Muskingum County Cattleman’s Association. He raised 4-H club pigs and beef cattle his entire life. He had the nicknames “Papaw with the piggies” and “The Pumpkin Man on Adamsville Road” for a long time. His reaction when asked if he had succeeded was, “I did succeed, just look around me.” His most significant achievement was becoming a papaw.
He is survived by his wife Sheryl Mullinnex Kreis, whom he married on January 14, 2005. They have six children together: Darrin (Courtney) Kreis, Ashley Thacker, Jennifer (Chris) Stewart, Tyler Guerin, Dustin Kreis, and Ryan Wells. He also leaves behind his brother Edwin (Joyce) Kreis and sister Maxine (DeWayne) Grooms. His in-laws Don (Sharon) Mullinnex and Richard Mullinnex. He
His mother-in-law Sandy Mullinnex and grandmother-in-law Eloise Mullinnex also passed away before his parents.
