Eleanor Carpenter Obituary, Death – On May 17, 2023, at the age of 90, Eleanor Carpenter of Bolair, Michigan passed away at the Briarwood Assisted Living Center in Allegan, Michigan. She had been a resident there since May 17. Her spouse of 68 years, Wilbert, passed away in the year 2020. Her daughter Linda passed away in 2009, and her son Jeffery passed away in 2018.
Eleanor Mustoe was the youngest of the three daughters that Cina and Guy Mustoe had. She was born and raised in Bolair. She attended Cowen High School and graduated in the year 1952. In 1951, she tied the knot with Wilbert Carpenter, and their union remained strong for the subsequent 68 years until his dying in the year 2020. In the 1950s, Eleanor and Wilbert uprooted their family and relocated to Michigan in search of employment.
They settled in Southgate, Michigan, and spent the next three decades there, during which time they had four children. After reaching retirement age, the couple moved back to Bolair and began cultivating an expansive garden in addition to planting apple trees. At the county fair, both Eleanor’s veggies and her canned fruit won first place awards. She was a very involved member of Calvary Baptist Church, and one of the activities she participated in was volunteering at the mission.
Whether it was babysitting, preparing food for holiday parties, or attending family reunions at Camp Caesar or Holly River State Park, Eleanor prioritized spending time with her loved ones, especially her children. Eleanor is survived by daughters Karen (Don) Csont and Diane (Don) Sparks, both of Michigan, grandsons Christopher (Dena) Csont, Dennis (Chrissy) Vyletel of Michigan, and Wil Carpenter of Oak Hill, step grandchildren Lindsey (AJ) Meyer and Brandon (Elyse) Sparks of Michigan; great grandchildren Rosemary and Milo Csont, Raya Vyletel (birth due June 1st), step great-grandchildren Londyn and Maverick Meyer, and Owen and Addie Sparks, all of Michigan.
her sister Ann Rosales of Michigan, in addition to a large number of nieces and nephews hailing from the Mustoe, Bruffy, and Carpenter families respectively.
