Eleanor Dagianis Obituary, Death – Eleanor Dagianis, age 97, passed away on Thursday, May 11 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, New Hampshire, following a brief battle with sickness. She was the wife of the late James Dagianis. On August 17, 1925, Eleanor Karekos was brought into the world by her parents, Costas and Rallou (Handakis) Karekos, who resided in Haverhill. Eleanor went to Haverhill High School and graduated with the Class of 1943.
After graduating from Clark University, she continued her education at Harvard University, where she earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1981. After working for Western Electric for a number of years, she went on to become a cosmetologist and was the owner and operator of Fashion Flair in Haverhill up until the year 2008, when she retired. She was an ardent reader, a member of the Greek Orthodox Ladies Philoptochos Society, and she spent her retirement years travelling all around the United States.
Eleanor is survived by her son John Dagianis, MD and his wife Ann (Dobbins) Dagianis, MD, Hollis NH; grandchildren Matthew & wife Katherine, Nashua, NH, and Christina Dagianis, Haverhill; and great grandchildren Athena and Kallista, Nashua, NH; brother Steve Karekos, Tampa, FL, Lucy MacDougall, Bradford, and Dorothy Early and companion Bill Chase, Haverhill, and brother-in-law Daniel Sullivan, Haverhill, and several nieces and nephews. Her siblings John Karekos, Mary Varonfakis, Christo Karekos, Peter Karekos, Betty Church, and Patricia Sullivan all passed away before Eleanor. She is the only survivor of her family.
