Garry Restifo Obituary, Death – The Polk County Sheriff’s Office is now conducting an investigation into a tragic accident that took place on US-27 late on Saturday night and involved a motorcycle as well as a vehicle. The collision involved both of these types of transportation.
The sheriff’s office reports that deputies responded to a crash that took place at approximately 7:58 p.m. when a motorcycle and a pickup vehicle were involved in a collision just north of the intersection with Dundee Road. The crash took place in the area of the intersection.Deputies say that a guy from Avon Park was driving south on US-27 in his car when he saw Garry Restifo, 60, of Lake Wales approaching him from the opposite direction.
Restifo was driving south on US-27. Both the driver of the truck and the driver of the Restifo swerved their vehicles in an effort to avoid hitting with one other, but in the end, both vehicles were totalled. The driver of the truck, together with all four passengers, including the child, were able to escape the collision without incurring any serious injuries, as stated by the sheriff’s office.
The mishap reportedly involved the truck colliding with a kerb and rolling over. It was claimed that all of the occupants were wearing seatbelts, and the newborn was secured in a child safety seat to ensure their own safety as well as that of the other passengers. However, Restifo did not have the same good luck as the others. It was said that the man, who was 60 years old, was not wearing a helmet when the accident occurred, and he passed away at a local hospital not too long after the incident took place.According to the sheriff’s office, the investigation into the reasons why Restifo was driving in the wrong lane was still ongoing at the time of the report.
