The car was moving ahead of her at a slower speed. When Kaur made her manoeuvre, the California Highway Patrol claims that she was approaching a left turn on the route at the time. They state that this information comes from the CHP.Officer Tom Olsen of the California Highway Patrol claims that she violated the law when she crossed two solid yellow lines at the same time, which is against the law, and that the bend in the road blocked her view, and he believes that this constitutes a violation of the law.

Rudy Mercado, a resident of Copperopolis who was 51 years old and driving a Toyota truck at the time of the accident, was killed when his car was involved in a head-on collision with her vehicle. At the location of the event, medical personnel determined that both Kaur and Mercado had passed away.
