Herb Romero Obituary, Death – Herb After a protracted and difficult fight with cancer, Anthony Romero, age 76, passed away on May 20 in the comfort of his own home, surrounded by family and friends. Before enlisting in the United States Army, he completed his high school education at West Jefferson High School. During his time in the military, he was honored with the National Defense Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal, and the Sharp Shooter M-14 medal.

He was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed both fishing and hunting. He also had a passion for riding motorcycles and was a member of numerous different motorcycle organizations. He was able to mend just about everything that was broken and enjoyed spending time in the great outdoors. After completing his tour of duty in Germany with the army, he began his job as a welder at Avondale Shipyard, where he remained employed until the time of his retirement.

Before he finally made New Roads his home, he spent the majority of his retirement years in his cherished hometown of Haile, Louisiana, where he served with the local fire department. He later moved to New Roads.
His maternal grandparents, Anthony Charles Romero and Annie Patin Romero, as well as his paternal parents, Herman Anthony Romero and Nona Mae Martin Romero, as well as his sister-in-law, Teri B. Romero, all passed away before he was born.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Barbara Lempp Romero, his son Eric Paul Romero and his wife Jeanine, his daughter Trisha Ann Miller and her husband Bo, his brothers Ronald Romero, Darryl Romero, and Myron Romero, as well as the loves of his life, his grandchildren, Alyssa Romero, Ethan Romero, Kaitlyn Miller, and Anthony Miller, whom he cherished deeply.
