James married Ms. Bettye Pearl Norris on July 1, 1953, and the couple was given the gift of three sons, seven grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren as a result of their union. Granddaddy, Kissy Pawpaw, and Pop were some of the names that his grandchildren called him. Buddy or Baby Lucci was a name that many of his numerous friends gave him.
He was originally from Alabama but moved to Gadsden in 1971 and remained there for the rest of his life. He enjoyed hunting birds, going fishing, and watching Alabama play football. He was the kind of person who never spoke to an unfamiliar face, was devoted to his Buick, and valued the time he spent with his family.
In addition to his loving wife Bettye Pearl Norris Hyde, Mr. Hyde was bereaved of the passing of his parents, Lilly Gilbert Hyde and James Emory Hyde, as well as his sisters Jane Koontz and Ann Shultz, his grandson Paul Hyde, and his great-granddaughter Lilly Ann Goodwin.
