John English Obituary, Death – On May 3, 2023, John W. English, who resided in Benton and was 86 years old at the time of his passing, passed away at his home. On June 18, 1936, in the city of Benton, he was welcomed into the world by his parents, John Everett English and Ora Mullinax English, both of whom had passed away before he was born. Many years prior to his retirement, he was employed by Exide Corporation as a truck driver until that company let him go. He adhered to the teachings of Jehovah and was an active participant in the Draffenville Congregation.
During his tenure with the congregation, he was grateful for the chances he had to talk to others about his Christian beliefs and educate them on the Bible. He looked forward to spending time outside and tending to his vegetable garden. Additionally, he made it a point to watch NASCAR races and basketball games from the University of Kentucky when he could find the time. John loved his family more than anything else in the world, especially his grandchildren; he held a special place in his heart for each and every one of them that was entirely theirs.
Those who are left behind include one sister, Emma Lou Irvan of Calvert City, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews. His two daughters, Debbie Prine (Joel) of Paducah and Elisha Washam (Robert) of Benton, as well as his three sons, John M. English (Anita) of Benton, Ricky English of Benton, and David English of Benton, are also left behind. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Kenneth English, one daughter, Donna English, and his wife Edna Hill English. His parents also died before him. Donna English was one of the people who had passed away before he did.
