Kenneth Tapper Obituary, Death – Kenneth Martin Tapper, our cherished father, died peacefully on Friday, May 19, 2023, at the age of 86. His children include Brenda (Brian) Banes, Diana (Lew) Hicks, and Tracy Tapper; his stepchildren include Judi (Dave) Dowell, Ruth (Chuck) Berwick, Robyn M. Terrigno, Peter (Karen), Stephen (Karen), and Bobby (Donna) Megronigle; his sisters include Nancy (Jim) Applegate, Patty Doto, Kay Leeds, and Linda (Vince) DiCicco; and his grandchildren
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Dorothy Weatherby Tapper, his beloved son David Martin Tapper, his parents Edwin and Wilma (née Warfel) Tapper, his brother Donald Tapper, and his parents. On April 6, 1937, Ken was born in Camden, New Jersey. After completing his studies at Woodrow Wilson High School, he received an invitation to join the US Navy.
He valued patriotism throughout his life, was proud of his military service, and turned his training into a job. ‘Kenny’ fell in love with baseball at a young age and played for many years in high school and professional leagues. He had been a lifelong, devoted supporter of the Philadelphia Phillies, and he continued to wear his favorite shirts and hats all the way up until the 2022 World Series. He and Dot watched and spoke about the Phillies for many hours, frequently planning their days around game time.
In 1976, Ken and Dot united two families when they first met and later wed. They have prioritized their family during their 46-year marriage. Their attendance at as many birthdays, graduations, recitals, games, showers, christenings, weddings, holidays, and parties as a calendar could accommodate was a major priority. Dad would drive just about anyplace, and they both enjoyed to travel and visit.
