Margaret Geoghegan Obituary, Death – Margaret Geoghegan MBE, who was the creator of Springhill Hospice and served as the president of the organization, has passed away at the age of 99. She was the founder of Springhill Hospice and served as the president of the company. Margaret was a pivotal participant in the establishment of the Hospice, and in 1983 she launched a dogged campaign to seek funds for the expansion of the institution to a new location.
The year 1989 was the occasion of the Springhill Hospice’s official introduction to the community of terminally ill patients and the loved ones of those patients. During this time, Margaret was presented with the award of a Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) in recognition of the tremendous efforts and contributions she had made for the benefit of the citizens of the borough of Rochdale.
This honor was bestowed upon Margaret in acknowledgment of the fact that she had made this effort toward the betterment of the residents of Rochdale. In recognition of the significant contributions that Margaret has made to the community in which she lives, this medal was presented to her as a token of appreciation. At this time, each and every one of us here at Springhill would like to send the family of Margaret our deepest and most sincere condolences for their loss. Margaret was a beloved member of our community.
