Murder Of Roxanne Wood – On February 20, 1987, the body of Roxanne Wood was discovered in the residence that she shared with her family in Niles, Michigan. After a nice evening of supper and bowling, her husband Terry got home just forty-five minutes after she did. He was able to find her there. She sustained multiple blows to the head with a metal frying pan, was subjected to s*xual assault, and was later discovered with an open wound to her throat.
When Terry finally located his wife, who was 30 years old, she was already deceased. Before DNA evidence obtained from the crime scene was used to link Patrick Gilham to the scene of the crime, Wood’s murderer walked free for more than three decades after committing the murder. The native of South Bend, Indiana, who was 67 years old at the time of his arrest, pled no contest to second-degree murder the following month, which resulted in him receiving a minimum sentence of 23 years in prison.
The arrest took place in February 2022.
