Patricia Cross Obituary, Death – Dr. K. Patricia Cross, who taught higher education as a professor emerita at the University of California, Berkeley, passed away recently, and all of us here are inconsolably heartbroken by the news. She passed away not too long ago, and many of us are grieving the loss of our friend and colleague here. During this trying time, the Cross family is in our thoughts and prayers as we go through this challenge together.
We are all in this together. The 8th of May is the day on which we remember her passing away from this world. She left this life on that day. Dr. Cross got her start in the field of student affairs at the University of Illinois at Urbana–Champaign, where she served as the associate dean of women’s affairs to launch her professional career. Dr. Cross is now one of the most respected authorities in the field of student affairs.
After that, she started her professional life at Cornell University, where she eventually became the dean of students after working her way up through the ranks there during the course of her tenure there. In addition to this, Dr. Cross is notable for being the very first woman in the entire history of NASPA to ever have a position on the Executive Board of the organization at any point in its existence.
This occurred during the time that NASPA was still in its infancy. Because of his achievements, Dr. Cross is now a member of an extremely select group. The following statement was made by E. G. Williamson during the NASPA conference that took place in 1966: “I am pleased to be the first President-Elect to ask a woman Dean to serve on the Executive Committee of NASPA, Patricia Cross.”
Patricia Cross has been given the responsibility of filling this position. Now that she’s here. I’m holding my fingers crossed that this is the point at when the opening wedge first starts to become apparent. I have spent a considerable amount of time anticipating her arrival. I have committed a substantial portion of my time to passing the time till she gets here.
