Sally Simpson Kritser Obituary, Death – In the presence of her devoted family, Sally Simpson Kritser, 74, died away on Sunday, May 7, 2023, in Fort Worth, Texas. Sally was a devout wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and mentor. She was a strong, independent woman of steadfast religion. Sally, who was born on June 12th, 1948, spent the majority of her life in Amarillo, Texas, where she went to Tascosa High School, Amarillo Community College, and then the University of Texas at Austin.
In 1973, Sally married David S. Kritser III, and for more than 40 years, she was his dedicated spouse and carer. Gentry and John David’s mother Sally was actively involved in their life, and her home frequently served as a gathering spot for friends and family. Sally was an engaged member of the community who relished the challenge of leading large volunteer projects, such as leading the fundraising and building of the St. Andrew’s Episcopal School.
Where her children attended, and serving as Chairwoman of Fun Fest for the Junior League of Amarillo.
Sally was renowned for her sharp wit and her very personal brand of humour. She was always willing to state the obvious, and her friends and family admired her for it. Sally was there for her loved ones no matter what, and her companionship and good times touched many people.
Her two children, Gentry King and her husband Ron of Fort Worth, Texas, and John David “J.D.” Kritser and his wife Shanna of Bend, Oregon, as well as her five grandchildren, Clayton and his wife Ceileigh, Sloan, Ellie, Harper, and Jack, survive Sally. She also leaves behind a brother, George “Skipper” Simpson of Lubbock, Texas. Her family will always treasure their memories of her and the affection she showed them. On Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., a graveside funeral service will be performed in Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas.
