Sally Simpson Kritser Obituary, Death – Sally Simpson Kritser, 74, died on Sunday, May 7, 2023, surrounded by her loving family in Fort Worth, TX. Sally was a strong and independent Christian woman, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and mentor.
Sally was born on June 12, 1948, in Amarillo, Texas, and spent the majority of her life there, attending Tascosa High School, Amarillo Community College, and then the University of Texas at Austin.
Sally married David S. Kritser III in 1973 and was his dedicated companion and caretaker for almost 40 years. Sally was actively involved in the lives of her two children, Gentry and John David, and her door was always open and frequently served as a gathering place for friends and family. Sally was an active member of the community who enjoyed the challenge of managing large volunteer projects, such as chairing the Junior League of Amarillo’s Fun Fest and leading the fundraising and construction of St. Andrew’s Episcopal School, where her children attended.
Sally was noted for her dry wit and sense of humour, both of which were distinctively hers. She was never afraid to say what she thought, and her friends and family admired her for it. Sally was always there for those she cared about, and her companionship and laughter affected many people’s lives. Sally is survived by her two children, Gentry King and husband Ron of Fort Worth, TX, and John David “J.D.” Kritser and wife Shanna of Bend, OR, as well as a brother, George “Skipper” Simpson of Lubbock, TX, and five grandchildren, Clayton and his wife Ceileigh, Sloan, Ellie, Harper, and Jack. Her family will remember her memories and the affection she shared with them for the rest of their lives.
