Shoaib Hashmi Obituary, Death – We regret to inform you of the death of Mr. Shoaib Hashmi, who passed away on May 15th, 2023. He was a superb dramatist, performer, and, above all, an inspiring instructor.
He will be greatly missed, but his work and the countless lives he touched will live on. May his spirit find peace.
Shoaib Hashmi, a well-known thinker, teacher, and writer, died on Monday after a protracted illness, his son confirmed to Geo News.
The theatre veteran wrote several shows for Pakistan Television (PTV), including Akkar Bakkar, Sach Gupp, and Taal Matol. He had formerly taught at Government College Lahore (GCL). His impressive academic credentials include a master’s degree in economics from the GCL and an MSc from the famed London School of Economics. He also studied drama at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London to polish his talent for the performing arts. Hashmi received the Tamgha-i-Imtiaz and the prestigious President’s Award for Pride in Performance.
Hashmi was the son-in-law of the great poet Faiz Ahmed Faiz and the spouse of Salima Hashmi. He leaves behind a son and a daughter. Hashmi’s garrulous excursions, dripping with hilarity, caught the attention of everybody within earshot range. Among the most notable features of his identity are his down-to-earth, warm, and simple demeanor; yet, the numerous traits that he exhibits through the media are his trademark.
