Wayne Russell Obituary, Death – On May 11, 2023, Billy Wayne Russell, age 55, of Sharps Chapel, North Carolina, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at home. His birthday is April 17, 1968. He publicly professed his faith in Christ at a young age, and was afterwards baptised. His father, James Edward Russell, his grandparents, Rev. Charlie and Hattie Leach, and his grandfather and grandmother, Charlie and Jennie Russell, all died before him.
The deceased’s mother and stepfather, Mae and Carlos Howard, together with Linda Parrish and her husband, David, all of Sharps Chapel, were left behind to continue their legacy. Nephew Brandon Parrish and his wife Shea, as well as their daughter Lorelai, all of Luttrell; Lorelai’s step-grandparents; and step-daughter Heather Jones and her kids Charity, Lily Grace, Paisley, and Luke, all of Greeneville.
On Sunday, May 14, 2023, at 3:00 pm, there will be funeral services and a burial at the nearby Bill Evans Cemetery, Sharps Chapel. Everyone in the family is invited, as well as any acquaintances or neighbours. Rev. Buddy Tolliver, Billy’s lifelong friend, will serve as the minister, while Shea Parrish and Bob Maddox will provide the musical selections.
The pallbearers were Jason Brantley, Will Nease, Jeff Maddox, Matthew England, Buddy Tolliver, Todd Tolliver, Bob Spoone, Mason Dalton, Brian Anderson, and Will Nease. Additionally serving were Jason Brantley, Brian Anderson, and Mason Dalton. As honorary pallbearers, Tim Peckel, Mike Hale, and Danny Gulley were chosen. Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. to prepare for the funeral procession.
